In response to the rising incidences of pyramid schemes, key government agencies have joined
forces to strengthen detection, prevention and enforcement across Bhutan.
The Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (CCAA) will spearhead this coordinated
effort, supported by the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA), Department of Law and Order
(DLO), Department of Revenue and Customs (DRC), Department of Trade (DOT) and
Department of Industry (DOI).
A Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) has been developed and adopted to guide this
collaboration. The SOP defines clear procedures and shared responsibilities, ensuring prompt
action and consistent application of the law in combating pyramid schemes.
The government calls on the public to stay alert and report any suspected pyramid or fraudulent
activities to the CCAA or its partner agencies. Together, these efforts aim to protect consumers
and safeguard Bhutan’s economic integrity.
