Public Notification on Plyboard Thickness
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
The Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (CCAA) would like to share with the public that
there is a significant difference between the ‘actual’ and ‘indicated’ thickness of the majority of the
brands of plywood available in the market. Such practices are misleading and not only defrauds
consumers but could potentially compromise the quality and safety of infrastructure.
Therefore, CCAA advises all consumers to be mindful of this discrepancy and insist on ensuring the
thickness is as indicated at the time of purchase.
The CCAA directs all retailers of plywood to inform buyers of the actual thickness of the plywood at
the time of sale. Retailers failing to inform and co-operating with consumers request for measurement
shall be liable for action as outlined in the Consumer Protection Act, 2012 and CPRR, 2015.
For any consumer complaints, please contact the CCAA at toll-free number 1214 and/or write to us
at consumerservice@moice.gov.bt.
