CCAA Monthly – August 2026: Consumer Redress, Market Surveillance and Fair Competition

The August 2026 issue of CCAA Monthly highlights the CCAA’s work to protect consumers, promote fair competition and strengthen market integrity across Bhutan.

During the month, CCAA received 41 consumer complaints, resolved 18 cases and facilitated Nu. 8,005.50 in refunds to consumers. Its inspection teams also visited 156 businesses across Thimphu, Gasa and Punakha, with several businesses rectified on the spot.

The issue also features important findings from CCAA’s studies of Thimphu and Paro’s craft retail sector and the Thimphu meat market. The craft-sector study found concerns around the sale of imported goods as locally made, guide commissions and differing prices for local and tourist customers, while the meat-market study found encouraging signs of increased price competition following CCAA’s intervention on collective price fixing.

Also featured are the return of “Ask CCAA” with its third episode and the Authority’s participation in the 15-day Business Regulatory Reform consultation covering 19 Dzongkhags.
